CIA. Borelli de Dança

Their researches and creations are developed in São Paulo since 1997. Their work repeatedly questions the human existence, revealing its insatisfactions, contradictions and uncertainties. They obtain their research materials from themes like violence, pleasure, lightness and pain. In their aesthetic results, certainty is substituted by the refusal of one dimensional solutions, transforming gesture and movement not into fictions, but into signs marked by ambiguity. It is an independent dance company that develops researches and creations since 1997, collecting a repertoire composed of the following choreographic pieces: Estado Independente (2009), Artista Da Fome (2008) Carne Santa (2007), Kafka In Off (2007), Carta Ao Pai (2006), Gárgulas (2004), O Processo (2003), Kasulo (2002), A Metamorfose (2002), O Abutre (2003), Jardim De Tântalo (2002), 33…O Eu E O Outro (2001), O Sr. Dos Anjos (2001), Bent- O Canto Preso(1999),  Solidão Proclamada (1998), and  Ifá…Se Quem Gritar Para O Mundo (1997).  In 2008 they were chosen by the Law of Incentive to Dance of the City of São Paulo to do the project “Cantos Malditos”, which consisted of a restaging of part of their repertoire and the staging of the piece that integrates the Mesa Verde Festival, besides the publishing of a book about the company.

This piece is a continuation of the research begun with the piece “Carne Santa”, from 2007, which was about the revolutionary utopy in Love, sex, politics and human ethics in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Here, it is inspired on the legacy of Ernesto Che Guevara, whose ideological posture came before his own existence.
